Refreshing oasis near Jorvi hospital.
Kätkökuvauksen koordinaatit johdattavat sinut Kvarnbyån lehtopurolaaksossa sijaitsevalle luonnonsuojelualueelle. Paikka tarjoaa virkistävän luonnonkauniin keitaan vaikka onkin vain napakan kivenheiton päässä Jorvin sairaalasta. Lintulajeista alueella pesivät mm. kultarinta, mustapääkerttu ja rantasipi sekä uhanalainen pikkutikka. Lepakot käyttävät jokivartta saalistuspuuhissaan ja tarina kertoo, että alueella on nähty myös liito-oravia.
Koordinaattien osoittamasta pisteestä löydät ihmisen tekemän rakennelman, joka auttaa pysymään kuivana vesistöä ylitettäessä. Selvitä lukujen A, B ja C arvot alla olevien ohjeiden mukaan tarkkailemalla rakennelman lähimaastoa. Sen jälkeen voit navigoida loppupisteelle, joka sijaitsee 0,5-1,5km matkan päässä rakennelmasta. Loppupisteen luonto ei aivan yllä alkupisteen tasolle idyllisyydellään tai harvinaisten lajien monimuotoisuudellaan. Tarkkasilmäinen kätköilijä saattaa kuitenkin matkan aikana huomata köyryselkäisiä punanäppejä, jotka saalistavat ravintoa suurilla aukeilla alueilla varsinkin kesän kuumimpina kuukausina. Ohjeet lähiympäristön tarkkailuun:
- Rakennelman välittömässä läheisyydessä on tolppa johon on kirjoitettu yksi luku (n. 1,5m korkeudessa). A = tämä tolppaan kirjoitettu luku.
- Rakennelman toisella sivulla kulkee putkia. Ympärysmitaltaan suurimmat putket ovat mustia. B = ko. suurien mustien putkien lukumäärä.
- Tarkkaile hetki ympäristöäsi rakennelman lähellä. C = havaitsemasi liito-oravien lukumäärä.
Kätkö on 0,8l kokoinen pakasterasia, joten siinä on tilaa myös vaihtotavaroille ja reissaajille.
Cache coordinates guide you to a conservation area in Kvarnbyå. The place is a refreshing oasis even though it is only a strong stone's throw away from Jorvi hospital. Some of the birds that are nesting in the area are: icterine warbler, blackcap, sandpiper and endangered lesser spotted woodpecker. Bats use the place as their food capturing area and the story tells that also flying squirrels have been spotted nearby.
In the cache coordinates you will find a man-made construction that helps you to keep your feet dry when crossing the water. You need to find out the values of A, B and C by observing your surroundings and following the instructions below. After that, you can navigate yourself to the actual cache that locates 0,5-1,5 kilometers away from the construction. Nature at the final location is not quite as idyllic or rich with rare species. However, a sharp eyed geocacher might spot some roach backed redfingers along the way who prey for food in vast open areas especially in the hot summer months. Instructions for observing the surroundings:
- Very closely to the man-made construction there is a pole. Written in the pole, there is one number (in about 1,5m height). A = is the number in the pole.
- There are pipes on one side of the construction. The biggest pipes by diameter are black. B = the number of these big black pipes.
- Observe your surrounding for a while near the construction. C = the number of flying squirrels you were able to see.
The cache is a 0,8l sized freezerbox so there is room for trade items and travellers.
