Visionary of Cinema - Peter Greenaway (Director) Mystery Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Long Man: This cache appears to have been missing for some time. Would the owner please check this cache and see if it still in place or give an indication of when it may be sorted out. Otherwise it should be archived. If there is no response to this log after 30 days I will archive the cache. In the meantime I am disabling it.

Guidelines:

  • You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to ensure it is in proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.), or posts a Needs Maintenance log. Temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have addressed the problem. You are permitted a reasonable amount of time – generally up to 4 weeks – in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.

Could the cache owner please place a note on the cache page so that other cachers and I can see what your intentions are.

Please DO NOT send an email about this cache in case I don't receive it. Posting a note will ensure your cache does not get archived in error.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the given coordinates. The given coordinates are for the entrance to the Bevendean Reservoir, an underground water supply for the Bevendean Estate. You can not get to this entrance as it is behind a chainlink fence.

The reservoir is actually a large tank built into the hill, water is pumped up from treatment centres and stored here for use locally.

Peter Greenaway is possibly one of the most original filmmakers in British Cinema history. Greenaway draws much from the art world and it is said that he uses the camera in the same way an artist would use a paint brush. He claims that cinema or more precisely narrative cinema is dead. I won't go into all the debates here except to say it is an interesting one and I would urge anyone interested in the subject to look at his work and what he argues.

This cache is the second in a series celebrating Cinema that will gradually be placed to create a circular route around Bevendean, Falmer, and Woodingdean. You may wish to wait for the circuit to be completed or you may want to do them as they come out. I am putting these out gradually as I want to make these caches as unique as I can , I also hope that by putting them out intermittently that more people will get the opportunity to get a First to Find.

To find this cache study the images below (larger individual images are also available further below) and match the film stills to the titles in the list below the image. The number equal to the title is the value of the letter on the film still.
