This mystery geocache is all about the volume of different 3D shapes. You will need to work out the answers to the questions, and then use numbers from those answers and put them into the co-ordinates frame given below. YTo successfuly solve these questions, you will need to a) know the equations for volume of a cylinder and volume of a triangular prism and b) be able to rearrange them. If you get stuck you can message me for a cryptic hint or two, but I regard these as not beyond anyone's reach (provided they put effort in).
Question 1: A cone has a radius of 4cm and a volume of 150cm cubed. Calculate the height of the cone. Round your answer up to the nearest whole number. Call your answer A.B (B=0).
Question 2: A cone has a radius of 10cm. A triangular prism has a perpendicular height of 9cm, a length of 20cm and a base of 10cm. Both shapes have the same volume. Calculate the height of the cone. Give your answer to one decimal place. Call you answer C.D
Question 3: A cone has a radius of 5cm and a perpendicular height of 9cm. Calculate the volume of the cone. Give your answer to one decimal place. Call your answer EFG.H
Question 4: A cylinder has a height of 6cm and a diametre of 12cm. Work out the volume of the cylinder. Give your answer to 3 significant figures. Call your answer IJK
The geocache is at: N 51° (A+C).(C-F) (J) (G+B) W 000° (JxF).(C) (H-I) (K-C)
Good luck and enjoy!
