There is approximately 3500 humans living in Merikarvia. The church can take rougly 2100 inside, so much over half of inhabitants of the village!
Kerimäellä kerrotaan olevan koko maailman suurin PUU kirkko, joka tietääkseni tosin on talvisin suljettu?! Merikarvialla on maailman suurin PUU kirkko, joka on YMPÄRIVUOTISESSA käytössä. Nykyinen kirkko on valmistunut 1800-luvun lopussa ja seisoo jyhkeänä keskellä kylää, kuin tietäen olevansa "suurin ja kaunein" !
The largest WOODEN church seems to locate in Kerimäki, but I think it`s not open in wintertime?! In Merikarvia is the largest wooden church which is open all year. This church was finished at the end of 19 th century and it stands powerfully in the middle of village like knowing that it is the "largest and the most beautiful" !
