Geocache Description:

This one is on an island so bring a spare change of socks, a 4wd vehicle, or a canoe.

There are a few ways to get here. You could go by canoe from the Kernsville Dam downstream to the island. You could walk or bike the Bicentennial Schuylkill River Trail from the Park in Hamburg or the access area off Port Clinton Ave. You could also cross to the island by 4wd via the access road at Port Clinton Ave. If you walk or bike you may want to bring waders or a spare set of clothes. The river crossing gets about 2 feet deep at spots. To access the island, I chose my Jeep.

While on the island (state owned) be sure to wander around a bit. You will most likely see some wildlife. I did see a flock of over seventy turkeys when placing the cache, I thought they were geese at first until I got close! You may also find Deer as they too inhabit the island on a regular basis.

Key locations are as follows and accuracy was between 17ft. & 34ft at all readings:

* N40 33.562, W075 59.283 Beginning of trail @ Hamburg park

While you're in the area visit the nice quaint shops of Hamburg or Port Clinton and try one of the many eating establishments. My favorite is the Port Clinton Hotel, just don't order the large fries, you could feed a family of six! My favorite for fast food would be Hecky's sub shop on State street in Hamburg.

Good Luck
