Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the vicinity of the Venezia (Venice) Santa Lucia train station. Nearby there are many monuments and bridges and a beautiful look at the old city of Venice. Terrain is flat ground and mostly paved. Area is VERY busy so use stealth.

The story behind this cache is a long and romantic one, so thank you to all who read. If you wish to skip the story have a look at the next paragraph. Sabine and Aaron met in August 2008 in Toronto, Canada. Sabine was a traveler from Germany and came to Toronto on a whim. After spending a few days in Toronto and Niagara Falls her and her traveling companion left to go see the US. Aaron, preparing to be the best man at his friend's wedding was unable to travel with them, but knew that this couldn't be the last time he saw Sabine. With one week left before the wedding Aaron was without a date, so after the evening of his friend's bachelor party he decided spontaneously to go after Sabine in Washington, DC. Aaron convinced his friend Brian to drive and off they went to Washington, without any means of contacting Sabine and with no place to stay they ventured into the unknown. Upon arriving in DC 14 hours later the boys were unable to find the German girls and were forced to spend the evening in their car. It was decided that Brian and Aaron would leave at 1pm the next day, no matter what. Aaron was frantically sending emails to Sabine trying to find her, but alas 1pm came and they were ready to leave. Aaron asked if he could check his email one more time and upon doing so found an email from Sabine telling him to meet her at the Washington Monument that evening. Brian left for Toronto and Aaron was left stranded in Washington hoping everything would work out. He met Sabine and her friends and after what seemed like hours of debating in a language unfamiliar to Aaron, Sabine decided to go back to Toronto with Aaron for the wedding. It has been love ever since. Aaron and Sabine have traveled the world together, doing geocaches in every city along the way. They thought it was only fitting that they give back to the community that has given them so much adventure.

This cache was placed in Venice, Italy because Sabine and I met there after weeks without seeing each other and were greeted by one of the most beautiful and romantic cities on Earth. We were shocked to see how few caches were in the area and knew we had to put one nearby an easily accessible public spot. This cache is a small metal box with German writing on it. Inside items of sentimental value and one travel bug were placed to start off our lovely cache. In it you will find: a heart, a diamond, a stone in the shape of a bee, a blue glass stone, a monkey, a mermaid, and an old German coin. The cache is located close to Venezia Santa Lucia train station and is accessible all times of the day. You will need a pen or pencil because ours was too big for the box.

****UPDATE: The cache is alive and well! Thank you to Bugic for replacing this cache in a close but nice (hopefully) location! It is so funny to receive a message about this cache because today is Bine's birthday and because she was so upset that people found our Venice cache disgusting and dirty, I was going to put a new one together and hide it here in Toronto, Canada. This is the best birthday present for her! We even cried a little because we were so happy to have the cache returned. It's certainly fate that the cache is reborn on Bine's birthday. Thanks bugic!

Out of sight of the watchful eyes of the virgin. Right under her nose... or maybe back.
