Wooster Lake Traditional Geocache
Flatland Reviewer: This cache needs owner attention. Please fix it or archive it. If nothing is done within two weeks it will be archived. A simple note on the cache page from the cache owner mentioning an intent to fix the cache soon is sufficient to prevent it being archived as long as he gets around to doing it in a reasonable amount of time.

A cache that everyone loves to hate located on the campus of Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
A little bit of local history in regards to this location....LYMAN C. WOOSTER was born in Hammond, New York, on August 1, 1849. Lyman Wooster came to Kansas with his wife in 1883 to become superintendent of schools in Eureka, Kansas. Trained in geology, one of Wooster's projects during the 14 years he spent in Eureka was supervising the Kansas educational exhibit for the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893. In 1897, Wooster became professor of biology (and, later, geology ) at Kansas State Normal School ( now called Emporia State University ). He died in Emporia in 1947 at the age of 97.
Wooster Lake and Wooster Bridge were both named after Lyman Wooster. While the lake started off as nothing more than a ravine, by 1917 ( when it was named for Wooster) the ravine had been damned to form a pond. In 1922 a dirt dam was built at about what is now the south edge of the lake, and a rock and earth dam was built to define the north edge of the lake in 1936. Wooster Bridge was built in 1928 to carry steam pipes across the lake, and to connect Morse Hall with the cafeteria on the east side of the lake. Be sure to visit the Wooster Memorial located on the west side of the lake. There is a large granite boulder embedded in the base of the monument. This boulder weighed approximately 400 pounds and was located 13 miles ENE of Eureka. The boulder has five planed sides and bears glacial markings. There is also a cool eagle statue located on the west side of the lake.
This cache location is along a major muggle thoroughfare on campus...perhaps tying your shoe might cause less interest in what you are trying to achieve. You will need to bring your own writing instrument, and perhaps even some type of "tool" to assist you in getting the log rolled back up.
