It was a dynamite place Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

2oldfarts (the rockhounders): This cache has been muggled several times now. They insist on taking the log book. So, it is no longer a safe place to have a cache. Even though it is miles from nowhere.

Consider it gone.

Geocache Description:

A large cache with a great FTF in the middle of nowhere.

Long description: We chose this spot because of the FTF prize. We needed a 'secure' place to hide it and the cache, until someone could claim the FTF. It is protected from the weather AND muggles. This cache has a lot of nice items in it ($3 - $10) so please trade accordingly. Please try to keep it nice for the next finder. Thank You.To get to this cache involves a lot of dirt road travel! About 23 miles of it. The road is regularly maintained, but it will have some washboard areas. I believe most cars will be able to get within 1/2 mile of the cache. With care a car may be able to get to the cache site, but getting turned around may be tight. A high-clearance vehicle will get with several hundred feet of the cache. Please leave the gates as you find them. If you choose to go on past the cache once you have found it you will need high-clearance and having 4-wheel drive will be an added benefit. The lower part of the canyon is beautiful and worth the time and effort to go there. I don't know if the hiking trailhead for Kanab Creek is still maintained, since it has been several years since we were there. As a side note, if you think you may want to visit the lower part of the canyon be sure to tell someone where you are going! It would be a LONG walk back to civilization if you should happen to break down!As you are driving to and from the cache keep an eye out for the antelope that roam the area. We also spotted a lynx near the start of the canyon. We got some pictures of a great horned owl from near here. By the way the cache is 190 feet away on a heading of 244 degrees from the given coordinates. Also the FTF is an Orvis flyrod in it's own hardcase! If you take the FTF prize please take a picture of you and your prize and post it in the forums under 'Geocaching Topics' -- thread -- 'How to get a flyfisherman excited'. Or post it on the cache page and we can link it to the forums. Thank you.

Additional Hints (Encrypt)

Look in the old dynamite storage enclosure. At least we think that is what the enclosure was used for.
