FTF..............Kushlacowboy!
The area now known as Saraland was once part of a Spanish land
grant. It was given to Don Diego Alvarez. His descendants gave the
community its first name, Alvarez Station. Later, it was named
Cleveland Station. The city's present-day name was given by a
retired minister and editor who moved to the south. Saraland's
first post office was supposedly opened by him, and the area was
named after his wife, Sara. All remnants of this time are gone
without a TRACE....accept for the the name of two streets in
Saraland. This cache series will take you to these places named
after the people that established this area.
