The cache contents are consistent with its location. The Birds of a Feather cache is in a white medium size ice cream container initially stocked with:
- Kid's 3D 'Woody Woodpecker' washcloth
- Two mushroom birds
- Three hens on a skateboard
- Assortment of feathers
- Canadian loonie
- Logbook and pen
After WWII the ponds were created by Mr. Joe Amos during the operation of his Loam and Peat business. Once the holes filled with water from springs and rain he stocked the ponds with fish and started a bait business.
In the late 50's and early 60's the large pond served as a base for an Ontario Hydro inspector who owned a Aeronca II-AC Chief two-seater airplane that was fitted with pontoons.
This was a popular swimming location in the summer and remains a well loved skating spot in the winter.
Developers are trying to rezone the area for residential housing. Barnie suggests you enjoy this spot and imagine how it once was before it is too late!
