Geocache Description:

This is a "MULTI-STATE" multi-cache. You will visit Missouri, Iowa & Illinois before finding the final cache.

This cache was designed to serve 3 purposes and I "thought" I had accomplished them all. I have rated it a 3 mostly because of the driving involved. From the 1st to the last waypoint, my GPSr's trip odometer registered 73.7 miles! None of the sites are harder than a 2.0

First and most importantly, it was designed for families with children. All of the cache sites are easy finds in areas suitable for picnicking. The first 2 sites have playgrounds for the children & the 3rd site has an animal park near by.

secondly, I wanted to do something different. I doubt there are any other caches out there requiring the hunter to go to multiple states!

Finally, I wanted to set up a cache that actually had some worth while items for trading. Unfortunately, a few dishonest people ruined that aspect of this cache!

The listed coordinates are for the 1st waypoint of this cache, which is a micro cache (white coin holder) located in Wakonda State Park (with permission) near La Grange, Mo. Bring your lunch and a fishing pole. The cache contains only a stash note and the coordinates to the 2nd waypoint.

The second waypoint is about 30 miles north, in Keokuk, Iowa. Here you will visit a statue of an historic Iowan, Samuel Ryan Curtis. Curtis wore many hats. He served as mayor of Keokuk & was also a member of congress. He also served in the military, attaining the rank of Major General. Use the dates on the statue to complete the final coordinates of N39* 57.A3A by W91* 24.BCC

To get A, find the dates he attended West Point and subtract the first from the last.

To get B, find the dates he served as Maj. Gen. 186B-1866.

To get C, find the year he died, 18CC & divide by 2

Since all of this info can be gotten from the internet allowing this waypoint to be bypassed, I will require all seekers to e-mail me with the (2) letters located on the base of the statue.

The 3rd and final cache is about 30 miles south, Quincy, Illinois, and is located on the grounds of the Illinois Veterans Home. God bless our Veterans!! Say hello to a resident while there, it will make their day! There are several monuments & various sites to see while here. The kids will love the deer park! Bring a stale loaf of bread or bag of chips to feed the animals. The cache is a clear rubber maid type container with a blue lid.

The original contents were:

1) $5.00 pre-paid phone card

2) $10.00 pre-paid gas card

3) 5 Burger King gift certificates (Take them all)

4) 2 Passes to Backwaters night club (Take both)

5) $20.00 gift certificate to Lake View Restaurant

Enjoy the hunt & may God bless you!
