Motunau Vista (Canterbury) Traditional Geocache
Hello Mrs: Visited the cache site today and have reluctantly achived it as it is doubtful a raplacement cache would survive now the local youth know its existance. A new cache has been hidden nearby at Sandy Bay. Sadly it looks as though the TB has gone missing

Situated on a headland overlooking Motunau River mouth, Motunau Island the coastline of Pegasus Bay and on a clear day Banks Peninsular.
On a day trip to this popular holiday place a good place to park is on the beach front at S43° 02.969 E173° 04.630. There are picnic tables, a childrens playground, access to the river for boating, swimming and playing in the sand. From here you can also complete multicache Drive To Motunau River Mouth cache GC100XE.
From the beach you can walk up to the headland through the Clutha MacKenzie Reserve to the cache site. The entrance is at S43° 02.933 E173° 04.554. After a short climb through native trees and shrubs the path opens out onto an open headland with great views. There is a seat conveniently placed to write up the log. The area is well fenced for your protection. Please DO NOT climb over the fences as it is very dangerous close to the cliff edge. The reserve headland can also be reached from Island Terrace at the top of the hill.
You will need to reach through the bottom of a fence to extract the cache from its hiding place. Please make sure it is well disguised when you replace it.
The cache is a camo painted 400ml sistema container. When hidden it contained a log book, stash note, pencil, pencil sharpener and a selection of swaps.
