Among all that private land (most of it belonging to Man O'War Station) there's a beautiful beach accessible to be enjoyed by the public. The 35mm film container cache itself should be easy drive-by micro in an "obvious" place!
Once you found the cache, make sure you enjoy the beach. From there, you will see Pakatoa Island (middle) and a bit of Rotoroa Island (right). Also drive on to Stony Batter to explore rock formations and if you have torch and few $$$ you can explore the cool tunnells (non-profit organisation looking after them). If you've arrived by water, be prepared for some steep climbing - just follow the road!!! Please make extra efforts to hide carefully and exercise stealth due to its remote location. PLEASE rehide carefully from the right (south) side and make sure it isn't visible to folk sitting or enjoying the view. The cap should be ONLY visible when crouching!
UPDATE 10 Jan 2012: The cache used to be under a SEAT. But CornishLassie reports that the seat has been vandalised and pushed down the bank. The cache is now behind the bottom of the fencepost in the long grass in front of where the seat had been. THE HINT PROBABLY DOESN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE UNTIL (IF) THE SEAT GETS REINSTATED.
