Geocache Description:

This cache is in St. George, Utah, in Pioneer Park on the Red Hill. It's a short hike/walk from wherever you park. There may be some uphill sections, but overall it's short and easy even for someone as out of shape as the author.

Every community ought to have at least one cache in the city limits. This one is in St. George, Utah, in Pioneer Park on the Red Hill. It's a short walk/hike from where you park. Take your time and explore the nooks and crannies in the red sandstone of the park on fall, spring, or winter. If you visit during summer, avoid summer afternoons as they are usually terribly hot in St. George. In the summer, stick to early mornings or late evenings for cache hunting except on those rare cool days.

The cache, a transparent 1-gallon plastic jar, initially contained a small purple flashlight with batteries, a large marble, a lime green Hot Wheels car taken from "The Silver One" cache in nearby Silver Reef, Utah, a wall thermometer (which confirmed that St. George summer heat is definitely hot), and a baseball card from a cereal box.

The author expects to visit regularly since the cache is only a few miles from his house, to perhaps add a few things, and keep an eye on it since this is his first cache he's hidden and he doesn't know if the plastic container will stand up to the summer heat.

North of the cache area is the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. To the south, the main section of the City of St. George is visible between the two black ridges to the east and west of the town, including prominent historical landmarks like the St. George L.D.S. temple (the white building almost due south of the cache location).

Because the park is popular, there is the possibility that someone may stumble across it. A small flat sandstone rock was placed on top and another leaned up against the side or bottom of the container to help conceal it better from casual park visitors. Please help keep it hidden when you find it, but don't place a rock that's too heavy on it or the thin plastic will likely deform. Hopefully any accidental visitors will read the cache message and choose participate in the fun.

Enjoy!
