The Journey to Mount Doom - Tornberget Porvoo Multi-cache

[ENG]This multicache is very adapted version of our favourite J.R.R. Tolkien's book The Lord of The Rings. You will meet Frodo, Sam, Gollum and other characters along your journey to destroy The One Ring. Please leave those for others to meet too! Locations and events in Porvoo and in the book may not match exactly :).

Imagine yourself being a hobbit on your way to Mount doom to destroy The One Ring. Walking isn´t like a picnic in the park but scenes are great anyhow. You´ll start your journey from the elven realm of Lothlórien. It´s also possible to go there by boat from the Encircling Sea. (PARKSM)

1st leg. First you´ll walk the path against the Great River. You will pass the Black gate of Mordor kind of rocky wall. Given coordinates takes you the secret passage to Mordor, also called as The Dark tunnels of Cirith Ungol. This is also the first stage of our multicache. Keep in mind that Gollum can't always be trusted, but still he brought you nearer the cache!!! You will meet Gollum later. By the way, do you remember what happened to Frodo here? Cirith ungol tunnel is in a treeish area so, only dangerous thing here is to watch out spiders.

2nd leg.This one is the hardest leg towards the cache. After finding the coordinates from the dark tunnel of Cirith Ungol you´ll start climbing steep and wide path nearby. As in the book, everything doesn't go as planned, but surely you will finally reach the Cache. After that you might also want to climb to the very top of the mount doom to see the Barad-dûr, the dark tower of Sauron more familialy known as the watertower of Slätberget.

Cache info This multi doesn't need any counting, just gourage to meet some bugs, orcs and uruk-hai and some hiking. It takes about 3 km walking from Lothórien parking place to cache and back again. The light of Earendil's star (flashlight) and knowing some elven language (i.e. decrypted) might be very useful...

You´ll find container with coordinates and hints to the next stage in each stage of this multicache. Please leave exchangeable items only at final location.

Beware of slippery slopes!

Mount doom cache itself is 0.7 litres and takes some items, especially certain types of rings ;) and travelbugs and coins. Area is a favourite place for orcs and uruk-hai to hang out so beware of those also. They might be just behind the next tree.

There is a parking place for cars and boats in the harbour of Hamari (Lothórien). You might find other places to leave your car/bike temporarily nearer the starting point, for example at the end of Kaunissaarentie, but we recommend Hamari because there is also nice a cafe for enjoying refresments after your journey!

[FIN]Tämä multikätkö vie sinut suosikkikirjailijamme J.R.R. Tolkienin maailmaan. Juonta on hieman sovitettu Porvoon maisemiin sopiviksi, joten kirjan fanit älkää suuttuko. Kohtaat matkallasi tuomiovuoren kätkölle Frodon, Samin, Klonkun sekä muita kirjan hahmoja. Jätäthän heidät myös toisille tavattaviksi.

Voit kuvitella olevasi hobitti matkalla Tuomiovuorelle tuhoamaan sormusta. Matka ei ole helppo mutta maisemat ovat kuitenkin mainiot. Aloitat matkasi haltijoiden kylästä Lothlórienista, jonne voit saapua myös veneillen Ympäröivältä Mereltä. (PARKSM)

LähtöpisteAlkumatkan kuljet Suuren Joen vierellä ja ohitat Mustaksi portiksi kutsutun paikan. Taru sormusten herrasta -kirjassa Klonkku kertoi Frodolle ja Samille salaisesta sisäänkäynnistä. Kuvauksessa annetut koordinaatit vievät sinut Klonkun neuvomaan paikkaan Mordorin salaiselle sisäänkäynnille, jota kutsutaan myös Cirith Ungolin pimeäksi tunneliksi. Paikka on myös Multikätkön ensimmäinen etappi. Tunneli on puustoisella alueella joten ainoa varottava asia on alueella liikkuvat hämähäkit. Muista, että Klonkkuun ei voi aina luottaa, vaikka hän kuitenkin toi sinut lähemmäksi kätköä. Tulet toki tapaamaan Klonkun vielä myöhemmin. Satutko muuten muistamaan mitä Frodolle tapahtui täällä?

2.etappi. Toisen etapin löytyminen saattaa olla hieman mutkien takana. Löydettyäsi ensimmäiseltä etapilta koordinaatit ja vihjeen aloitat kiipeämisen kohti Tuomiovuorta jyrkkää polkua pitkin. Kuten kirjassa, Tuomiovuorelle pääseminen ei ole helppoa, vaan joudut hieman vaeltamaan ympäriinsä. Löydät kuitenkin loppujen lopuksi tiesi Kätkölle. Kätkön löydettyäsi voit kivetä aivan Tuomiovuoren huipulle ihailemaan Barad-dûria eli Sauronin mustaa tornia jota täällä Porvoossa kutsutaan myös Slätbergetin vesitorniksi.

Kätkö tietoa Tämä multi ei vaadi laskutaitoa, ainoastaan hieman rohkeutta kohdata jästejä, ötököitä ja kävellä muutama kilometri. Lotlórienin parkkipaikalta on matkaa kätkölle ja takaisin noin kolmisen kilometriä. Matkaan on hyvä ottaa Earendilin tähti (taskulamppu) ja kenties hieman opiskella haltijakieltä (dekryptausta)...

Löydät multikätkön etapeilta purkin. Purkki sisältää koordinaatit ja vihjeen seuraavalle etapille.

Varokaa myös liukkaita kallioita ja jyrkkiä rinteitä!

Tuomiovuoren kätkö on 0.7 litran muovirasia ja sinne mahtuu jonkin verran vaihtotavaraa, etenkin tietynlaisia sormuksia:) Tb:t ja geokolikot ovat myös tervetulleita. Alue on örkkien ja uruk-heaiden suosimaa maastoa, joten varo paljastamasta etappien paikkaa sekä lopullista kätköpaikkaa. Jästit voivat olla juuri seuraavan puun takana!

Auton voi jättää Hamarin sataman (Lothórien) paikoitusalueelle. Myös lähempänä multin aloituspistettä löytyy pysäköintimahdollisuuksia. Esimerkiksi Kaunissaarentien päässä on pysäköinnille sopivaa tilaa, mutta suosittelemme kuitenkin Hamarin satamaa, sillä siellä on joka päivä auki mukava kahvila, jossa voit nauttia virvokkeilla Tuomiovuoren matkan päätteeksi.
