Greetings,

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses about maintaining this cache so for the time being it will be archived and removed from the active cache listings. We are no longer leaving caches stay disabled for extended periods of time.

Groundspeak and the geocaching community appreciate your contributions to geocaching and I hope to see this cache back in operation soon. If you can get it back up and running in the next week or so contact me to get it relisted. Otherwise plan to move it slightly and set up a new cache page.

I hope this one makes a speedy return.

Geocache Description:

The above coordinated will bring you to a parking lot, not a cache. Read on…

Blackburn Park is a very nice suburban park, which is liberally sprinkled with a number of sinkholes. Knowing that I live quite near by, the National Sinkhole Society (hereafter referred to as the NSS) asked me to conduct a survey of the locations of the all sinkholes in this park. To commemorate this delightfully diverting survey, the NSS also asked me to place a cache for you to find. AND, to ensure that you will completely enjoy and appreciate the fruits of my labor, I have placed a small tag at each sinkhole with information you will need to find the cache.

The sinkholes, in no particular order, are located at:

N 38° 34.943, W 090° 20.713
N 38° 34.876, W 090° 20.731
N 38° 34.827, W 090° 20.735
N 38° 34.839, W 090° 20.696
N 38° 34.823, W 090° 20.669
N 38° 34.868, W 090° 20.654

The tags, rather small (about 1 in.), are attached to small trees near or at the bottom of each sinkhole, 4 to 6 feet off the ground. Once you find the first one you will know what to look for for the rest of 'em. The above coordinates will get you to the sinkholes but you will have to look around for the tags.

The information on the tags will be in the form of 1 or 2 sets of letters and numbers (e.g. letter - number), each letter equaling a number in the coordinates of the final cache location:

A = ___ B = ___ C = ___ D = ___ E = ___

F = ___ G = ___ H = ___ I = ___ J = ___

Final Cache Location:

N 38° AB.CDE, W 090° FG.HIJ

The cache is easily visible from several back yards so, please, use stealth and discression while recovering it or it may not last long.

I hope you enjoy the survey as much as I did. Perhaps you too would like to become a member of the NSS. Go to www.nationalsinkholesociety.org and join today. See you in a sinkhole someday soon!
