How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A contest in a local park to see who can place the best cache! Winner gets a prize. This event is a get together to announce and explain the contest.

Cache contest breakdown:

History
My Name is Chris, and my geocaching name is eagleapex. I live a few blocks from a neat little park in South Philly. I
want to place a cache there, but I also want it to be the best possible. I also want to include local cachers who may not know about
this park, but have good ideas for a new cache there.

When
Sunday, February 4th at 3pm in Gold Star Park near 7th and Wharton. (Google Calendar event link)

The Contest
A challenge to Geocachers to see who can make the best cache in that park, and the winner gets credit and a prize.

How it will work
  1. There will be an Event Cache announcing the contest including hanging out and talking about caches!
  2. All cachers who attend the Event will be invited to hide a cache in the park during the 2 month contest period.
  3. Important: The new hides will be listed in the logs for the Event including a waypoint and hints, but not officially published.
  4. After 2 months, another Event Cache will be planned for voting the winner.
  5. The best cache will be judged on size and cleverness.
  6. All in attendance will vote, and the best cache will be picked.
  7. The winning cache will then be published by eagleapex and credited to the winner.
  8. All the other non-winning caches will be collected and returned if requested
  9. The winner will get coordinates to find a pretty sweet prize: a mp3 player loaded with Podcacher podcasts.
  10. The new cache will be maintained by me, so any visiting cacher can participate.

Guidelines for entries
  1. Entries should adhere to normal geocaching.com guidelines except for the distance requirement.
  2. You don't have to attend the Announcement Event Cache to participate, but it is recommended to attend the Voting Event Cache in case you win.
  3. All eligible caches will be placed on the public property bounded by the four surrounding streets. Avoid that one house in the corner.
  4. Be aware of all the other entries, and keep some distance, so there is no confusion about what cache is placed where.
  5. All caches should be marked with the cachers user name to distinguish them.
  6. Beware of bad coordinates. This will be a abnormally dense cache area.
  7. Collaborations are encouraged, but you can't split an mp3 player.
  8. Decisions will be democratic, and any conflicts mitigated through the SEPAG forums.

Happy Caching!
