Geocache Description:

Easy reach by hiking or walking a bicycle. 2 minute walk from a public transportation.

Pilaite is most likely not on the tour guide lists. A mound or rather an ancient fortified castle site is one of the hills occupying part of the green territory in the midst of urban areas of Vilnius. Explorers disagree about when the castle and fort were initially built and used first. Some tend to believe the hillfort was used for military purposes back in 12th century while others think it only gained it's defensive importance around 16th century. Archeologists have yet to do some work here. It is a small amateur basketball site built by kids up on top these days.

It is also believed there are some fresh 21st century treasures buried somewhere in Pilaite hill vicinities. Go find them, enjoy the beauty of the Sudervele stream pond.

The cache initially contains a loogbook and a pen along with some HAM radio QSL cards, vintage (1958) electron tube, some Swiss and USSR currency in the form of coins. Some other goodies thrown in there too. First to find the cache grabs the FTF prize. A typical plastic sandwich box is used to secure the contents.

Congratulations to Kibiras on the FTF!
