Geocache Description:

A simple brain teaser for all ages. Easy access cache hide, with good views.

The given coordinates are for a well known view point, from where the area in question can be seen. THEY ARE NOT THE CACHE COORDINATES.

Eb and Alf worked for the Railway. They both helped to lay the track that comes south west from Bristol towards the channel coast, then turns nearly due south towards Bridgwater and beyond. Crossing the levels from Yatton their work was easy and they were able to lay track arrow straight and level for over five miles. Then, allowing a branch line to run into Weston Super Mare and back out, they were able to travel straight and level again towards Burnham on Sea.
To join the two straight sections they were going to need an even curve for the speeding express trains to traverse. They gave the matter due consideration and formulated a plan.
Early next morning Eb set off with a wheelbarrow full of string, a pigeon in a basket and a packed lunch, hoping to find the ideal spot to stand still for the afternoon holding the string.
Meanwhile just outside Weston, Alf waited patiently with the other end of the string, until soon after morning tea break the pigeon arrived with the message to "Start walking". Alf stretched the string taut and set off plotting his path with pegs stuck in the ground every few paces. Soon a wonderful curve started to appear behind him, ready for the track layers to follow. Late in the afternoon Alf lined up with the straight section to Burnham and the curve was complete.
Back at the other end of the string, Eb had stood forming the pivot point for Alf. He had time to entertain himself by converting his by now empty lunch box into a Geocache at this memorable spot. Using his surveyor's knowledge he hid the box nearby at:
Twenty three pole, plus Four Rods, Two Fathoms & Four Nails.
Eb and Alf's technology was very simple, you however have the benefit of many hi-tech aids to help you in your quest. So with luck it shouldn't drive you "round the bend"!

All characters, events, and pigeons in this document are ficticious, and any resemblance to real persons and pigeons either living or dead is not only coincidental but is absolutely incredible!.
