Geocache Description:


Use stealth!!!! There are people all around! BYOP. Just so you'll know, the station once stood under the "police tree," a chinaberry with a palm growing from it's fork. The Police Tree was removed by Mayor Brenda LaPaz. Before a helpful phone company employee moved a decommissioned booth to the site to provide shelter during storms, the on-duty officer stood or sat under the tree in the center of downtown ready for action. During the 1960s the city disabled the booth for outgoing calls to prevent its use for long distance calls by locals and tourists.
