Geocache Description:

This multi cache will take you to some of the pools in the area. To get from pool to pool you will have to solve a puzzle (some of them involve slightly tricky mathematics) to find the co-ordinates for the next way point. Also there is another puzzle at each waypoint which will lead you to the final cache location. The posted co-ordinates lead you to WP1. Why not take your swimmers and have a
swim in one of the pools or the beaches, if it is warm enough.

WP1
At this way point you will have to find a micro which suits the area where it is hidden. On the paper inside are the co-ordinates for WP2 and a puzzle which will give you the southern and eastern degrees of GZ.

WP2
To get to waypoint three, you will need to look for the year that the Brig Amy sunk on this very beach, and also the year that its’ monument was re dedicated. These are the co-ordinates for WP3
34 __ __ . __ __ __ S and 150 __ __ . __ __ __E

___^Part 1^ __________________^Part 2^________

As you can see, the unnumbered sections are divided into parts. To get part 1, add all the numbers in the year of re dedication together and subtract 4.665
To get part 2 add all the numbers in the year of the wreckage together and add (30 + 1/4 x 1/5 + 1/2 x 1/100)

To find the minutes for GZ you will need to solve the following puzzles:

Southern Minutes: Take the year that the monument was re dedicated to the Brig Amy and then subtract 1978

Eastern Minutes: Take the month that the monument was re dedicated to the Brig Amy then times it buy ten and add seven.

WP3
Here are the co-ordinates for WP4
34 __ __ . __ __ __ S and 150 __ __ . __ __ __ E

__^Part 1 ^ ________________^Part 2^_________

At this WP you will need to look for the aniversary number (not year) that is celebrated on the sea side block.

To get part one just place the following (french) numbers in to their correct spots. For the minutes, the answer is quatorze
For the decimal places, the answer is sept cent quatre-vinght sept

To get part 2, subtract this number a.bcd from the anniversary number (not year) on the sea side block.
a= first number in the date of the setting up of the monument
b= the first and last numbers in the setting up of the
monument date added together
c= the last number of the setting up
date subtracted from the second number of the same date.
d= same as c

To find the three decimal places for the Southern co-ordinates you need to solve the puzzle below.

Take the year that the monument was erected and place the numbers correctly into the following equation and solve it using quadratics.

Example The year is 1506,
insert the year
__ X2 + __ X + __ __ = 0

Solve

1 X2 + 5 X + 06 = 0

The answer

( X + 2 ), ( X + 3 ) = 0

X = - 2 or X = - 3
X equals negative two or negative 3

So insert the year that the monument was erected into the following equation.

__ X2 + __X - __ __ = 0

Next take the two answers for X and add them together, then multiply the answer by negative 81. Finally add 30. You now have the decimals for the southern co-ordinates.

WP4
This is the final way point before the actual cache. Here you must find a sign on a wall and get the six numbers which are in the bottom right hand corner (The numbers are quite small.)

To figure out the eastern co-ordinates decimal place you will need to add those six numbers together. Next you have to times the answer by a bakers dozen, then subtract two score. Finally you must add XXIX (these are Roman numerals). You now have the decimals for the eastern co-ordinates.

Cache Site

Now if you have solved all the puzzles you can find the cache.
___ ___ ........... ___ ___ . ___ ___ ___ S {WP1}............. {WP2} ......... {WP3}

___ ___ ___...... ___ ___ . ___ ___ ___ E
{WP1}.............{WP2}........ {WP4}

This cache covers quite a distance so a car is recommended though going by bike is still very possible, however, I think feet are out of the question. We hope you enjoy doing this multi cache and don’t forget to get a swim in at every pool along the way.
