You are looking for a small cylindrical container about 3 inches by
1 inch, either brown or green depending on what is there at the
moment. The TWO hints below should help to narrow your hunt as each
hint is unique.
The Chamber of Commerce is located just across the street making
this a convenient stop for travelers. Just beyond the Chamber and
on Sioux Avenue is the Discovery Center with information on
Riverboating on the Missouri. (see below)
A recent visit found that the pencil was missing, so BYOP.
The area can be quite active, so be careful of Muggles.
Steamboat Park on the Missouri River has a history far greater
than my knowledge of it. Suffice it to say that steamboats from St.
Louis use to make their way up the river and dock in the vicinity
of this park. Now the huge dams along the Missouri River prevent
any barges from navigating the river above Yankton, SD. Hence with
the coming of the dams in the 1930s – 1960s, an era on the
river came to an end.
The Discovery Center next to the Chamber of Commerce Building
sells a book "WILD RIVER, WOODEN BOATS" about Steamboating on the
Missouri. Quotes from the Book, page 87: ". . . the deadliest risk
in steamboating was the boiler explosion . . . . a total of 1,002
people were killed in these explosions". Elsewhere it states that
boys sailed up the Mississippi while men sailed up the Missouri.
The Missouri was fast and dangerous.
Congratulations to Familygeo FTF.
