The first place to go to learn about Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley

This cache is located on the site of some notable residents of Philadelphia including Dr. Caspar Wistar, the renowned anatomist and intellectual; Robert Morris, signer of the Declaration of Independence; Philip Marin Freneau, poet of the Revolution and friend of Benjamin Franklin; and Haym Saloman, financier of the Revolution.

The cache is housed in the Independence Visitors Center, built to welcome the world to Philadelphia. This 50,000-square-foot facility is the welcome center for Independence National Historical Park. Here you can get information about the Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania, as well as the Southern New Jersey and Delaware River waterfronts.

Hours: Daily, 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

No longer a traditional Letter box hybrid, just a remaining log book. The log book is kept behind the desk inside of the building. You will have to ask an employee at the desk if they know where the log book is kept. Not everyone at the center knows where the geocaching log book is kept, so as a little twist to make this cache easier for fellow cachers there will be two ways to be credited with a find here...

1) Find someone who knows where the log book is and sign the log book
OR
2) Take a picture of you with one of the employees at the building and post it

(please specify in your log which option you have completed)

Good luck and happy caching!

**If you attempt this cache and still are having a difficult time please let me know.

What a really cool place to visit, the visitor center's employee's in the red coats know all about the log book which is very nice. and then you can go an take a short walk to see the Liberty Bell also very cool. I took a view of the bell you don't normally see. Thanks for the fun.

I am looking to do this cache for an upcoming 1776 milestone. If anyone would be so kind as to contact me with the approximate time they swung by so I can figure out the best chance of me finding an employee who knows where the cache is hidden. I am looking at either the morning of Sat February 6 or the afternoon of Sun February 7.

Thanks.

I was in Philly for business and decided to grab this cache since it was right across the street from where I was working. Once inside I asked one of the park officials about geocaching and I got the blank stare and he suggested I ask one of the ladys in red. The lady in red went right to the log book and was very nice.
Thanks for placing this cache !! I hope to plan another trip back to this great city with my wife so we can explore the awsome history of this city and our nation.

TFTC !!!

Decided to go into Philly today with a friend for a day trip (not that far from us) and I decided to grab a few caches. This one I walked up to the desk and I said to the lady, "Hi. How are you?...Do you know what geocaching is?" and she replied, "Yes. I have a book for you." Then I thought wow that was simply...and it was. TFTC
