Working on getting the legs back into shape for an upcoming Grand Canyon hike. Not been doing a lot of hiking the last couple years given schoolwork, but that wrapped up a couple weeks ago. Put in a little over 8 miles, 1500' ascent/descent today at El Corte de Madera Creek. Started at gate CM09, headed down the Virginia Mill trail to the bridge over Lawrence Creek. One side trip up and back on Lawrence Creek trail to retrieve a geocache.

Geocache Description:

Next to the trail in the El Corte de Madera OSP. A camo'd largish drink cup.

Nature has a way of perservering over man. All the growth in this area is pretty much secondary after the area had been clear cut decades ago. As you walk along the trails in this park you can see how everything is slowly growing back. Slowly...steadily. Found this great little example of nature overcoming our work. A redwood sapling sprouting from the stump, growing well.
