Ein Cache bei Wildflecken in der Rhön, der die Möglichkeit bietet einen Eindruck von der Geschichte der Region als Militärstandort (seit 1936) mitzunehmen.
A Cache near Wildflecken/Rhön, that gives you the opportunity to take an impression of the regions history being a military location since 1936.
Vom angegebenen Parkplatz aus geht es den „Kreuzweg der Nationen“ entlang, der eindrucksvoll die Opferzahlen beider Weltkriege in Erinnerung ruft. Der Weg wird bei längerem Regen tief. Entsprechende Kleidung und Schuhwerk wird empfohlen.
Ursprünglich tatsächlich ein Friedhof, ist der Polenfriedhof heute eine Gedenkstätte für die fast 20.000 internierten Polen, die nach dem 2. Weltkrieg in einem Lager in der Nähe zusammengepfercht leben mussten.
From the parking area, just walk along the “Kreuzweg der Nationen” (way of the cross of nations), which tells you the incredible number of victims during both world wars. The way becomes squishy in rainy times. Please take the right clothes and shoes.
The Polenfriedhof (polish cemetery) has been a real cemetery in former times. Nowadays it is a memorial place for the nearly 20.000 polish, who lived near Wildflecken terribly crowded in a displaced persons camp after world war II.
