The final resting place of the old Auckland Trams along the Thames Coast
In the 1870s there was a timber mill here and in the 1900s sand was taken out of here to be barged to Auckland. In the 1950s Winstones leased the land and in 1956 23 old tramcars were placed here as holiday baches. These sit next to a reserve which has a very popular boat ramp as there is good fishing in the nearby mussel farms. The cache is about 400ml in size and has itmes of a fishing theme in it eg hooks etc. It is wrapped in black plastic
