The Palmy Gateway Trackables Rest (Manawatu) Traditional Geocache
Tararua Turtle: Regrettably I have to accept defeat and admit that it is simply a bridge too far for me to get this cache back up and running at this time.
Further, I don't feel confident about reinstating the 'trackables hotel' off the back of a significant muggling of a whole lot of trackable items.
To the owners of the trackables that have gone from this cache my apologies. Local geocachers did help to see if recovery was a possibility, but without success.
I hope my archiving will free up this site for another geocacher to establish another Palmy gateway caching experience.

The city's southern point of welcome (haere mai) and farewell (haere rai).
Welcome to Palmerston North’s first travel bug (TB) and trackables’ hotel.
For cachers travelling by road and arriving in or leaving the city through its southern gateway on Pioneer Highway, this TB Hotel will provide an ideal opportunity for you to check in or check out trackable items.
The hotel is located where Palmerston North City marks this point of entry and exit. There is an information board, pull-off parking bay when entering from the south and a landscaped area involving an assortment of symmetrical faux river boulders. (Across the road you will find a park area where you can run your dog off-leash. This park was the cache's first location before I shifted here for greater accessibility and better security).
There is likely to be quite a good deal of passing traffic. That presents both a muggle risk as well as a risk if you park on the other side of the road (south bounders). There will also be passing pedestrian traffic, so a degree of stealth may need to be deployed please.
So that the hotel maintains an adequate occupancy rate you are encouraged to check in trackable items at the same time as you check them out. If you are not able to exchange and you are retrieving-only from the hotel, please take only one (1) trackable item at the time of each visit.
Of course you are very welcome to visit the hotel without having to check in or check out trackable items, and there are the usual tradeable trinkets in this cache too.
The cache is a 3 litre screw top plastic container, camo painted.
