on the southern ridges of the Matra Multi-cache

Hlesztakov: Szia marvika!

Geocache Description:

Let's take a one to five hour long hiking tour that starts at one of the most distinguished points in Hungary and leads to a pleasant recreational centre.
The distinguished point is the highest peak of the country and the tour takes us down on the sunny, southern ridges of the Matra hills. The blue cross trail we follow drops about 600 meters, is varied by caves and the ruins of a fort, and we close the tour with wandering at the bird conservation show in the woods.

So it is a three stop multi-cache all the way down from Kékesteto to Mátrafüred.
If you arrive by car, leave it in the car park behind the bus stop in Mátrafüred, and take the bus to Kékes (or Mátraháza).
I've seen sports persons complete the trails either up or down by bike, but I'd recommend the good old traditional walking.

Start the trip at Kékes down the hill following the blue cross markers (if you start at Mátraháza, first follow the red cross markers to the blue cross trail).

The first stop is at Remete Cave. The container in which you will find the coordinates of the second stop is just above the entrance of the cave in the rocks, so you must climb up a little.

Leaving behind the first stop, you will descend cc. 300 metres on the trail to Benevár, the ruins of a fortification. Here is the second stop of the multi-cache with essential information about the whereabouts of the third and last and most important stop. The second container is hidden in a pile of stones that can be found in the a ditch near the walls of the fortification.

To the third and last stop you must first follow and then (not too far from the fortification) leave the blue cross markers (). This is a wide, unmarked path to Máriácska. When you reach Somor brook, follow the red markers which will lead you into the bird conservational area in the woods. You will find the password here according to the instructions read at the second stop of the multi-cache.

You will leave the woods heading to the south, very soon you'll find the main street of Mátrafüred and the bus stop where you started off.
