Island cache.
Easy walk for all ages.

The cache is on Motuihe Island in the Hauraki Gulf. 30 mins by fast boat from Downtown Auckland. This island has only recently been cleared of pests and now an exciting replanting programme has begun. It is a Recreation Reserve, administered by the Department of Conservation. Already some saddlebacks have been transferred from Tiritiri Matangi.
It is also a great picnic and swimming place.
If you don't have water transport, check out the website www.motuihe.org.nz and go out on the volunteers ferry one weekend to help out for a few hours(2nd and 4th weekends)
Cache is a 1 litre camoflaged jar.
It contains a log book and pencil, a ship in a bottle, a tuatara, a fish, a dolphin, a lighthouse and a kiwi keyring.
