- Volg aanwijzingen in natuurgebieden.

A nice walk, roughly 3,5 km, east of
Diepenheim on passable tracks. Diepenheim lies in the southern part
of the 'Hof van Twente' district. The city is one of the six
kernels within this district. Diepenheim is bordered by shadowing
forests country estate landscape: at the westside 'Huize
Diepenheim', at the southside 'Warmelo' and at the eastside
'Nijenhuis'. At the northside you find the relatively low situated
area of the 'Diepenheimerbroek' where the streams 'Boven Regge' and
the 'Molenbeek' encounter
The location of Diepenheim in the rolling landscape between
numerous streams and landscapes is one of her most important
environmental qualities. The city itself lies a bit higher on a
sandy convexity at the 'Boven-Regge' with in the nearby environment
low streamvalleys and wet areas like the 'Diepenheimerbroek'. De
spacial structure of the city contains urban as well as villagelike
characteristics. The old by canals surrounded urban structure is
still retrievable in the Diepenheim (also called 't Stedeke)
citymap. Contrary to cities like Delden, Borculo or Lochem,
Diepenheim had no further urban development.
Nijenhuis is mentioned back in 1457. The current castle goes all
the way back to the 17th century and is largely renovated in 1800.
Beautiful buildings shut the frontsquare and give the house a
dignifying glance. Formerly the estate was rounded by wide canals.
Several forests (Nijenhuizerbossen, the dark forest, de Molenbeek,
de Prinsendijk and de Beukenlaan) belonged to the estate. In 1858
and in 1914/1915 the house was enriched with a few towers.
