Geocache Description:

Have you ever heard an emu? I had not until just today! Emus make a loud rhyhtmic sound called "booming" or "drumming" - and that's just what it sounds like. Other interesting facts I learned about emus today include that the male is the one that incubates the eggs and who also cares for the chicks for up to 18 months. They are such good dads, they will even do this for eggs that are not even their own. Mom emus, on the other hand, have little to do with the brood after the eggs are laid. Also, emus are pretty good swimmers.

My family and I learned a lot and really enjoyed this small zoo found on Cougar Mountain in Issaquah. We thought it would be fun to hide a cache just outside the gates to this zoo. It's a great place to send an hour or two (it is really small!) but there is no need to go into the zoo to find this cache, so it is available even when the zoo is closed. The easiest parking is at the zoo, but there is nearby street parking if you would prefer or if you go after hours - just be careful as the road is curvy in this area!

The cache was originally a micro, and I was able to squeeze in a benchmake pin for the FTF. Now it is a medium size lock-n-lock all camo'd for the fun of it. Although it is a quick park and grab, it would not be wheelchair accessible. I did not get very good reception here, but if you have read the description careful and use the hint, it should be a quick find.
