The Mansion-hill is to the north of the village next to the cemetery. The cache is under a tree stump near the hill.
The village of Hegyhátszentmárton is in Vas county, Hungary. It is first mentioned in 1431. Present population: 71.
The Turks completely destroyed the settlement in 1588. The present day hikers might, with a little imagination, bring back to life the sight of the country mansion which straddled the steep hill on the banks of the Rába and Lugos rivers. A road led up to its gate, and beyond the walls there was and old church. The village was resettled near the old mansion in 1685. the carried off the building material, first from the surface then from the ground, too.
