Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden at Kapowairua, or Spirits Bay, located at the northern end of the Aupouri Peninsula at the northern tip of the North Island.

Tohe, an important Ngati Kahu chief, lived here at Kapowairua – so named because when Tohe was about to set off to visit his daughter, he told his people that in the event of his death they should grasp (kapo) his spirit (wairua).
The cache is a camouflage-painted 500ml plastic handcream container.
When hidden it contained shampoo/conditioner, soap, boot laces, a luggage tag and a racing car, as well as the usual logging paraphenalia.
It is an easy walk from the car park to the cache location. Keep to the track as best you can and watch for the prickly thornapple, the first time we have seen this exotic weed of the datura family growing in NZ. Check out the early cannon and the lonely cemetery with the best view in the world. Also, the huge rock on a "stalk".
