This is a plainly hidden cache on Nickerson Ledge at Mount Chocorua in the White Mountain National Forrest.
This cache was hidden on 2/24/07 which was after the Nor'easter, but before the storm on 3/2/07. I was lucky to have a fairly packed trail to follow, but snowshoes and or crampons were still needed.
From the Rt 16 parking it is a 3 mile round trip so please plan accordingly.
Winter parking is found at the store at the entrance to Piper Trail and they charge the same daily rate as does the WMNF which is $3/day.
The cache is slightly winter friendly. It is hidden in the root system of a tree, no digging was needed to place the cache despite the heavy snow, but with the additional one foot you might need to clear away some.
I hope the finders of this cache enjoy it as much as Stephanie and I enjoyed hiding it. For Stephanie it was her first "real" winter hike which involved special equipment like snowshoes and crampons. She loved the sense of accomplishment of completing such a challenging task and she also enjoyed the gourmet meal I prepared for her using my JetBoil cooking system.
