August 23 by N!ck (43 found) We had similar problems as others with counting the windows for this one (not counting the one at the bottom of the tower) so got the wrong coords for stage 2. It was only thanks to a stroke of genius by first timer and expert cacher in the making Mighty Duck that we managed to locate the little blighter and continue to the final location - a bit further away than we had hoped (particularly as we had to walk back before our much needed lunch stop at the pub) but a nice walk none the less. [view this log] | August 2 by tigerthumbs (369 found) On the way to this one, wondering how Dr WHO came into it, soon to be identified as we followed the clues - DOH!! could be heard from the other side of the river me thinks. Was a slight difference of opinion of the window count for clue "D", until realised the count had to be single numbers - so 33 was definatley wrong!! On the way to the cache noticed the huge mosquito larvae puddles in the river - glad the wind was a blowing slightly as did not fancy trying to explain to NHS Direct the possibility of Malaria as well as Swine Flu!!! On the way back, Jo almost managed to get a trip back in the local Helicopter, twisting ankle on the path, PHEW, luckerly not that bad, but Dave was flying today, so would have been a laugh. BTW, Cache is "Stinking" and wet and damp. Me feels the Doctor would not be travelling far in this one, and might need a little TLC. Signed log, TNLF. TFTC
[view this log] | July 19 by Mike&Fiona (16 found) Our third and final cache of the day. this was brilliant, we loved the concept. the clues and the two stages of this cache, the logbook was great too.A word of warning, we visited this cache after having bagged Typically Tiddles xxx (GCJD86) we followed the riverside footpath down river (south) but found that we could not cross the small river channel. Although the map shows that the footpath does cross the channel it seems that this would be unlikely without getting very muddy. If you are linking up the two caches it would be best to head back the way you came and then head inland. TFTC
[view this log] | June 26 by jim4545 (68 found) A good fun one this - liked the tiny church for initial co-ords. Found the first stage easy enough and had an adventure for the final cache, being ambushed by a swarm of some kind of fly which detracted from a magnificent view of a red deer. Had we been seen by anyone they would have thought we were demented waving our arms in the air to ward off the wee beasties. Jo may have learnt also to dress appropriately. TFTC. TNLN.
