Adlershof ist seit 1909 der erste deutsche Motorflugplatz: Albatros, Fokker, Rumpler und Wright machten den Ort berühmt: (visit link)
Nach dem Krieg kam die Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR und die neuen Fernsehstudios des DFF nach Berlin-Adlershof. Auch die Stasi nutzte das Terrain mit bis zu 12000 Mann als Schießplatz.
Heute ist hier eine integrierte Landschaft aus Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft entstanden, Adlershof beherbergt zahlreiche Forschungsinstitute, Wirtschaftsunternehmen, die mathematisch-naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultäten der Humboldt-Universität und vor allem auch das Erwin Schrödinger-Zentrum.
