cthulhu0: The container here was unique in design and cannot be replaced easily, we don't have any good replacements at home.
And a micro sized one would not serve the purpose the original had, so it's time to say goodbye to this cache.

Geocache Description:

Korkeavuorenkatu, Helsinki.
Kaunista vanhaa arkkitehtuuria molemmin puolin katua.
Lots of beautiful old architecture to see here.

Kätkö sijaitsee vanhan Erottajan paloaseman pihalla. Paloaseman on suunnitellut Theodor Höijer ja se on valmistunut vuonna 1891, (visit link) .
Paloasema on vieläkin käytössä ja rakennuksesta löytyy myös Palomuseo. Museo on auki sunnuntaisin 12-16, mutta ei kesäaikana(kesä-elokuussa).
Joka vuosi Helsinki-päivänä 12.6 on mahdollisuus myös kiivetä katsomaan hienoja näköaloja paloaseman torniin.

Tien toisella puolella on vanha Helsingin Puhelinlaitoksen rakennus vuodelta 1905, jonka on suunnitellut Lars Sonck.
Helsingin Puhelinlaitoksen rakennukseen muutti sen valmistuttua Suomen ensimmäinen käsivälitteinen puhelinkeskus ja lisää puhelinlaitoksen historiasta löytyy Elisan webbisivulta: (visit link)
Rakennus oli Elisan käytössä ennen päätymistään Sulake yhtiön pääkonttoriksi. Sulake on tunnettu Habbo Hotellistaan: (visit link)

Kätköä varten ota mukaan ruuvimeisseli tms. työkalu kätkön avaamiseen.

Parkkitilaa löytyy läheltä kadunvarresta merkityiltä paikoilta.

Kätkölle on kysytty lupa paloesimieheltä ja palomiehille on kerrottu kätkön olemassaolosta.

Cache is located in the yard of the Erottaja firehouse, designed by Theodor Höijer and building was finished in 1891, (visit link) .
Firehouse is still in active duty and there's also a museum in the building.
The opening hours of the museum are Sunday 12-16, but it is not open during summer months (June to August).
Every year, 12.6 when it is Helsinki-day, it's possible to climb up to the tower to enjoy the great 360 degree view over the Helsinki area.

At the other side of the street there's an old Helsinki phone company building, designed by Lars Sonck and building was finished 1905.
It was formerly used by Helsinki Phone Company(Helsingin Puhelinyhdistys/HPY), which later became Elisa. Elisa has some early history of the phone in Finland(finnish only): (visit link) .
Nowadays it's Sulake Corporation's headquarters.
Sulake is best known of " Habbo Hotel", (visit link) .

Prepare yourself for the cache box by bringing along a screwdriver or other similar tool which is needed to open the container.

If the logbook seems to be missing, please take a look inside the opened lid.

NOTE!
If you are coming by car, DO NOT USE the fire department's parking places at the front yard for parking. It's strictly forbidden.
You can park your car (or other geomobile) along the road at the places marked for parking.

Cache has permission from the fire department to be there, also the firemen know about the existance of the box.

Helsinki Monopoly is a series, which is meant to have small, regular or large sized urban caches at the places seen in Monopoly game board.
Multicaches or mysteries with calculations are not allowed, but multicaches without calculations are if they show for example more than one places during the round (with for example microcaches for the next coordinates).
