Kivi-Pori Mystery Cache

Tämä on helppo pulmakätkö, jonka kohteet ovat lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä toisistaan. - This is an easy puzzle cache. The targets are located in a short walking distance of each other.

Kivi-Poriksi kutsutaan Kokemäenjoen rannan tuntumassa olevia Porin I ja II kaupunginosan kortteleita. Porin palon jälkeen Raatihuoneen ja kirkon väliselle alueelle sai senaatin määräyksestä rakentaa vain 2-3-kerroksisia kivitaloja. Lääninarkkitehti Chiewitzin laatima uusi ruutuasemakaava raatihuoneen ympärille vahvistettiin vuonna 1852. Museoviraston mukaan korttelit muodostavat yhden edustavimmista vanhoista kivikaupunginosista Suomessa. Suurin osa Kivi-Porin rakennuksista on suojelukohteita.

Kätköpulman ratkaisun avaimet löytyvät Kivi-Porin kuudesta kauniista rakennuksesta. Rakennushistoriallinen promenadi kannattaa aloittaa Keski-Porin kirkosta.

1. Carl Johan von Heidekenin suunnittelema Keski-Porin kirkko on tyyliltään uusgoottilainen. Se valmistui vuonna 1863. Erikoinen kellotorni on tehty valuraudasta. Alttaritaulun on maalannut R. W. Ekman. Porin seurakuntayhtymän sivuilla on lisää kuvia kirkosta.
2. Kokemäenjoen rannassa sijaitseva pakka- ja vaakahuone valmistui 1858. Suunnittelija oli C. J. von Heideken. Vuonna 1897 tehdyn laajennuksen suunnitteli Gustaf Nyström. Rakennus peruskorjattiin 1977-81 Porin taidemuseoksi. Taidemuseon sivuilta löytyy lisää tietoa pakkahuoneen historiasta
3. Porin teatteritalo valmistui vuonna 1884. Uusrenessanssirakennuksen suunnitteli Johan Erik Stenberg. Teatterin sivuilla on lisää tietoa rakennuksen historiasta.
4. Teatteria vastapäätä on ns. Merikapteenin talo. Vuonna 1893 valmistuneen talon suunnitteli arkkitehti Ricardo Björnberg merikapteeni Oscar Heinelle. Rakennuksessa on yhdistelty erilaisia tyylisuuntia. Talon erikoisuus on laivan mastotornia muistuttava torni. Talon porraskäytävä on suojelukohde. Rakennuksen omistaa nykyisin Porin evankelis-luterilainen seurakuntayhtymä ja siellä sijaitsee mm. seurakuntatoimisto.
5. Porin raatihuoneen on suunnitellut C. L. Engel. Rakennus valmistui 1841. Raatihuone vaurioitui Porin palossa ja puinen kellotorni tuhoutui. Raatihuone korjattiin 1891, jolloin rakennettiin uusi kellotorni. "Pori-tieto -sanakirja Porista" sivuilla on lisää Raatihuoneen historiasta.
6. Alunperin asuintaloksi rakennettu venetsialaistyylinen Junneliuksen palatsi valmistui 1895. Palatsin suunnitteli August Krook Robert Junneliukselle ja Hugo Rosenlewille. Porin kaupunki osti talon vuonna 1962. Palatsi on nykyisin Porin kaupungintalo. Rakennuksen peruskorjaus aloitettiin vuonna 2006. Kadunpuoleiset julkisivut ovat jo valmiit. After the great fire of Pori in 1852 it was ordered by the Senate that only stone buildings that were two or three storeys high were allowed to built in the area between the church and the court house - therefore the area is called Kivi-Pori = Stone Pori. Most of the buildings in these quarters are protected as part of architectural heritage.

You can find the keys to solving this puzzle from six of the buildings of Stone Pori. We recommend that you start your promenade from the church of central Pori.

1. The neo-gothic church of central Pori was designed by architect Carl Johan von Heideken. It was completed in 1863. Altarpiece is by R. W. Ekman and the stained glass windows in the choir are by Magnus Enckell. There is a cast iron spire on top of the tower. There are photos of the church in the web site of Parish Union of Pori.
2. The building of Pori Art Museum was originally a ware- and weighhouse. It was designed by C. J. von Heideken. The building was completed in 1858. It was expanded in 1897 by architect Gustaf Nyström. The building was converted into an art museum in 1970's. 3. The neo-renaissance style theatre house of Pori was designed by Johan Erik Stenberg and it was completed in 1884.
4. Across of the street from the theatre there is so called Sea captain's house. It was designed by Ricardo Björnberg for sea captain Oscar Heine. The building was completed in 1893. Now it is owned by the Parish Union of Pori.
5. The old courthouse of Pori was designed by C. L. Engel. The building was completed in 1841. The wooden tower was destroyed in the fire of 1852. The courthouse was repaired and the tower was rebuilt in 1891.
6. The city hall or the palace of Junnelius was originally built as a private apartment building. The Venetian style palace was designed by August Krook and it was completed in 1895. City of Pori bought the building in 1962 and transformed it into administration offices.
