Sandoval
County
This cache is part of the New Mexico Challenge. One cache is hidden in each
of New Mexico's 33
counties.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it is
to find and log all 33 caches with a
photo of yourself at the cache site.
Sandoval County is filled with
different landscapes, from the Jemez Mountains and Cuba areas, to
the Desert just north of Albuquerque. One of the most beautiful
areas is the Ojito Wilderness.
This cache is placed in the Ojito and will give the newcomer a
reason to visit a wonderful area. There are many caches in the
area, some are close to the road and can be driven to, some require
extensive hiking. This one does not require hiking. If you continue
on Cabazon road past the cache you will make your way to the upper
end of the Rio Puerco.
We placed the cache using our 2 wheel drive car, no need for high
ground clearance or 4X4 UNLESS it has been raining, then you might
want to think twice, and get some urban caches instead. You don't
want to get stuck in the mud. In the summer make sure you take
along adequate water for everyone going out, watch for snakes and
mostly have fun finding this and all the New Mexico Challenge
Caches.
Original contents include: FTF pin, several other pins to trade,
1st aid kit, Kids survival kit, 2 match case (would make good
caches), Snake bite kit, Deck of playing cards, 2 rain ponchos,
compass, and a Basket of Hope Bracelet.
