Geocache Description:

Allred Lake Conservation Area

Originaly placed on 7/25/2001 by ozark4. Cache was stolen/removed. Replaced on 6/16/2003 by krayon.


This cache is located in Allred Lake Natural Area managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Allred Lake is some of the last original bottomland forest in Missouri. The land supports bald cypress, swamp tupelo, water locust, willow oak, swamp chestnut oak, water elm, swamp privet and many other species. The real view is the 7-acre natural lake ringed with cypress-tupelo swamp, short walk southeast from the gate that keeps vehicles off the trail.. Some of the bald cypress trees are over 500 years old.
