Inertia. It's the Law. Obey it. Embrace it.
In general terms, Inertia is defined as a body at rest staying at rest unless a force is applied to it, and a body in motion will continue that motion unless a force is applied to it. The first stage will give an example of at rest, while after that, once in motion, it takes force to change or stop that motion.
