Geocache Description:

A multicache that takes you aroud the town of Feilding. Should take no longer than 45 minutes. The final cache site is under tree cover and GPS reception can be dodgy - if all else fails resort to the hint!

This multicache is located within the environs of Fielding – a town to the North of Palmerston North. I was inspired by ADV’s multicache using the town of Bulls and it was inevi-ta – bul that I should follow suit using Fielding as a locality particularly since it has no caches within to date.

Fielding is a town based on farming and this has been the case since its inception over 100 years ago. The town folk have long known that the prosperity of their township has depended on those who worked with sheep, cattle and the plough and have erected a memorial acknowledging the contributions made by these men and their animals, particularly the dog, at a site in the town. This site is the commencement of the trail you will follow if you choose to accept the challenge. At its termination you will gain some appreciation of the original bush cover early settlers had to contend with in starting agriculture in this area.
Happy hunting!
