Railway, once the lifeline of transport.
At the published waypoint is a very informative sign about John Rochfort, the engineer who explored for and laid out the Main Trunk Railway between Marton and Te Awamutu. Read the sign and glean some information for the final cache location. Look up and across the main road to sight the "Star Hotel" mentioned on the sign. A = the sum of the digits of the year in which John Rochfort died. B = the last digit of the year in which John Rochfort was born. ie. 183B C = The year in which John Rochfort was made redunant, minus 1406 D = The number of passengers who boarded the train on 7th August. E = The speed over temporary rails, plus 170. Using this information, proceed to the following location. S 38 B . C E 175 A . (D+E) Here you will find the final resting place for John Rochfort, the Railway Man, less than 2km away. To find the cache, head south (Magnetic) 13 metres, from the resting place. The previous hiding spot has been cleared, so we have had to downsize the hide. Cache is now a micro - a small bison tube hanging on a black zip tie. Please hook it back on the tie, and hang it against the branch. Enjoy.
