A short hike through the Lincoln Woods Audubon Sanctuary in Leominster, MA
The name of this cache comes from a poem by one of my favorite poets, Robert Frost. I generally cache with one or more family members, so the name seemed appropriate.
Lincoln Woods is a very pretty spot. Parking is available at N 42.30.868, W 71.45.602. Some people reported having a difficult time locating the parking. Look for the Lincoln Woods Audubon sign and the driveway to the left of the house (when looking at it from the street.) There used to be an interesting stone marker in the parking area about Miss Elisabeth Lincoln. Sadly, when we did a spring wellness check in April 2019 the stone had been removed. I wish I still had a photo of it. From what I remember she was a Leominster teacher who donated the land to the Audubon society.
Because this is an Audubon sanctuary, please follow their rules: no dogs or bicycles, and the cache is only available dawn to dusk.
The cache is a small Lock & Lock container with a log book and some small items to trade. Follow the Elisabeth Lincoln Loop Trail, and the cache is only a short bushwhack off of the trail. Enjoy!
