Geocache Description:

Nagyatád is a town in south-west Hungary, the cache is near the statue park of Nagyatád.

In the hungarian geocaching, this is a multi-cache with 4 points (3 virtual+1 traditional), but here at geocaching.com it is only a traditional cache, because here isn't necessary to find the password to log "Found it".

Nagyatád is a town in Somogy county in Hungary, sometimes it is called "the town of parks, statues and baths". If you visit Nagyatád, you will understand, why!
You can reach the town on road 68. To find the cache, go to the coordinates: N 46°13.500' E 17°22.595', and there go southwards. The statue park lies there. On the left there stood an old engine on the edge of a little forest, but it's been removed. The geobox is hidden in the forest. The statue park can be visited every time, entry is free.

Once if you travelled here, it is suggested to see around in the town. You can see a lot of statues everywhere (not only in the statue park), and more parks and you can rest in the thermal bath too. The coordinates are below:

The Franciscan church and monastery

These are the oldest buildings of Nagyatád, they are standing now at Széchenyi square, which is the main square of the town. The church is near the coordinates: N 46°13.714' E 17°21.985'
In the garden of the monastery, you can see a little monument, which reminds everybody of the unfair dictate of Trianon: after the 1st World War (in 1920) Hungary was constrained to subscribe the dictate... before it, the area of Hungary was 325411 square kms, after it the area is only about 93000. Millions of hungarian people got stuck in the other side of the new borders, in Rumania, Czechslovakia, and so on. Millions live there nowadays too, not in Hungary...

Have a pleasant stay in Nagyatád!
