Geocache Description:

JOIN US FOR A WILD RIDE ADVENTURE THROUGH SIX SOUTHERN

MAINE COUNTIES FOR A FUN, ALL DAY GEOCACHING EXTRAVAGANZA

TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 15th 2007

If you didn’t come to our rallye last year or if you do not know what a Geo-Rallye is, read on!

This is an all day event that starts at sunrise (but your day will start at least an hour before that) and it will run until 5:30 in the afternoon. The object of the event will be to find as many of the caches, locationless caches, and other geo targets that are laid out, before the event’s timed finish.

This Maine Geocaching Association event, put together again this year by Hoamdezinahs and Gob-ler, will cover approximately 300 or so miles (Depending on the route you plot) of southern and central Maine. The area covered will be between Rt 302 on the south side, Augusta on the North side, far East as Wiscassett, and as far West as South Paris. This year we expect to be putting out between 35 and 45 (log-able) caches in 6 or 7 counties. In addition to the log-able caches we're also adding a bunch of fun locationless caches, and other geo-scavenger hunt items for you to find, which will make it a fun, exciting, and very tiring day. You will be scored points for every cache, locationless cache, and geo-targets that you find. Prizes and awards will be given out at the finish.

We have reserved a room at a great local eatery for the finish of the event. Contestants and anyone that wishes to come to the finish will be able to purchase a meal if they wish. The meal will be either a choice of three different dishes, or a buffet (To Be Decided in August) The price for the meal is $14.00 per person (includes gratuities) and to be paid for with your registration if you want it. If you are not a contstant but plan to attend the rallye finish, we must be notified that you are attending, (because of space limitations) and if you want the meal we must be paid for it prior to Aug 15th.

If you wish to participate in the rallye there is a contribution of $45.00 per team. The contribution pays for prizes, awards, and expenses related to the event. Please know that absolutely NO ONE makes any money on the event, we spend more on this event than we take in.

The registration contribution and meal fees are due when you send in your registration form and are non-refundable.

Because of space limitations at the finish, registration is limited to 40 teams, and anyone wishing to enter must pre-register before August 15th. (If you wait till then you may not get in.)

Your team can consist of no more than four persons. If you only have a team of two people, and want to do this with another couple, please let us know. We will see if we can set you up with another couple about the same age. That way you’ll be sharing expenses, and 4 people searching will make finding caches easier and faster.

Entry forms may be downloaded right from here in the following formats: OpenOffice, PDF, Word and Works. You can also grab it from the website or by clicking here to e-mail us for one.

We also have a special forum page set up for just this event! Please click here to access it (free two minute site registration may be required) and then you can do anything from putting your own team together to joining an already existing one... to learning some of the inside secrets for winning the event!
