This is the last parking area before the Zig-Zag becomes one-way
and it's also near one of the best views over the city and plains.
This is rather a high-traffic area and, going by the occasional
discarded can or bottle, more by drunken drongoes than respectful
muggles. So the cache is disguised under an artificial version of a
common natural object. It shouldn't be hard to spot since you're
looking for it; Papa Bear's artistic skills don't run much to
sculpture (or any other visual artform!) It's surrounded by other
typical cache-hiding places, but it stands alone.
Once you've found the cache, look West and you should see the
airport tower. Follow the path leading that way for about 100m and
you'll come to a spot with great views across the big beach that is
Perth!
The reason for the name is that this seems to be the place that
the fires of March 2007 were deliberately lit by some sociopathic
firebug. The fire wiped out much of this area of Gooseberry Hill
National Park but was stopped before any houses were damaged. Two
caches were burnt, though, one of them ours!
After your photos or just enjoyment of the view, head on down
the Zig Zag (always pleasant, even if you've done it before) and
there's two or three caches you can pick up on the way down. One's
easy, one's fairly easy and the Bear_Left ones aren't all that
easy, but you enjoy a challenge, don't you?
