This location had its high point during the heyday of the Joe
Montana 49ers, when several members of the team lived in the area
and frequented the neighborhood sports bar. Like the team, The
Canyon ran down hill over the years, and by the time we moved into
the area in 2000 the neighborhood market was abandoned, and the
small retail shops were half empty.
While California's real estate developers can often be a plague
upon our landscape, in this case they came to the rescue of a dying
institution. Over the last year and half, The Canyon has
been rebuilt, and now boasts a thriving upscale market and
several new businesses in the remodeled retail center. Welcome to
our reborn neighborhood! (Now, if they could only do the same thing
for the Niners...)
The cache is in an exposed location, but the hide is such than
an experienced cacher should be able to score it inconspicously as
a near drive-up. Bring your own pen.
