Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT LOCATED AT THE ABOVE LISTED COORDINATES. IT IS NOT AT THE SCHOOL EITHER
Please park at the posted coordinates which are at Mead Park.

“The original Richmond School was a two-story wooden building constructed in 1887. It was largely built with the help of Mr. Norman Richmond, one of the owners of the Richmond Paper Mill, a precursor to the Appleton Paper Company. Richmond School had the capacity for 90 children, most often kindergarten, first, and second grades occupied the school. School started in the fall and ended the following June. Most students only attended during the winter months, as they were needed for farm work. A fire in 1924 closed the school until a new stack was installed.” … “after years of over-crowded conditions, Richmond parents and Head Teacher Miss Viola Pelzer formed the first Richmond School PTA and met with Superintendent J.P. Mann to plan for a new building. Finally in fall of 1953, Richmond School opened it doors to kindergarten through fifth grade students.”

Today approximately 282 students attend grades K – 6 at Richmond Elementary. In 2007 Richmond won the Gold Governor’s School Health Award and Shape up Wisconsin’s Kids Day Award. The school mascot is The Richmond Rocket and the school newsletter is appropriately named “The Rocket Reporter”.

Update 10/10/08 - Congratulations to Richmond Elementary on being the 4th healthiest school in the nation! Richmond was featured in a Sept 2008 edition of Health Magazine and there was a celebration ceremony on Oct 8th which included special guest Mayor Tim Hanna. Well done Richmond!

A is the First Digit of the Postal Address for Richmond Elementary. ** Update 10/5/07 - Richmond school, since 1953 has had the Same Numbered address up until this school year! According to my Son, they changed the address this year because they realized Odd was on one side and even on the other and they were "technically" on the Odd side but had an even address! Though it doesn't affect this puzzle solution, it's another bit of interesting trivia on the school. B is the 3rd digit of the year that the First Richmond school PTA was formed. C is the sixth digit (of 10) of the Fax Number for the school. D = B. E is the second number in the countdown at the end of the Richmond School Song.

You’re, halfway there…
The school day begins at 8:FG. H is the 4th digit (of 10) of the Phone Number for the school. I is the # of “Pillars of Character” in the Character Counts program at Richmond. J is the maximum grade level a student can attend at Richmond plus 2.
