For Visitors to gain a better
understanding of what happened that day and the way it affected the
local people (my girlfriend was working at the airport), one can
visit the youtube website and search for "tenerife air crash" It
would make the visit more significant. (thankyou team
mavos)
The inaugaration of this site
was 30 years after the incident where the largest loss of life in
the history of aviation took place. The Dutch artist, Rudi van de
Wint, who designed the over 18 metres tall monument, (a spiral
staircase or Wenteltrap in Dutch) sadly died shortly after
completing it. To search for this cache is an ideal time to reflect
on the frailty of the human form and our reliance on
Technology!
To get there by car. you will
take a road that passes just South and just below the cache which
is located at the top of a Bluff (Do not try to climb this Bluff,
it is dangerous)
As of May 2010 the Park and
Monument area has been opened up to the general public and there is
now quite good parking, toilets(of a kind) and running water so you
can take the children and make a day of
it.
I have left a small plastic case
with a blue lid.
Inside is:- Various trivia, pen,
bracelet, log book etc etc GOOD LUCK......
